First impression

Well, I'm not really sure what to think of this site. I'm trying to have an open mind, but after spending several minutes trying to find the "Join" button, I realized it was that really odd looking red thing in the upper left corner saying "Yo" and a bunch of other things. So that's where you click if you want to join. I suggest you read this review first to make a more informed decision, because this is definitely unlike any site I've ever seen.

Our opinion

As soon as you enter Powerotics, you'll see this isn't your usual members' area - as if you couldn't tell during the tour. As stated on the home page: "The member magazine is huge. It has been cut up in sections for your convenience. If we did it any other way, you simply would not be able to find your way in the vast content." You'll see over a dozen larger pictures along each side, as well as smaller pictures in the center. Each of these has a title and is the "doorway" to the various categories. The bdsm themed categories are quite numerous: Bondage Teaching, Slave Life, Cellblock, The Clinic, The Institute, The Stables, La Derriere, The Edge, Gagged, The Library, BDSM Life and Style, Genital Torture, Spirit and Power, Hair Inferno, Male Sexuality and BDSM, Tortured Tits, Icons of BDSM, The Torquamada Collection, Movie Bound, The Whipping Post, and Selena Files. Movie Bound isn't the movie category within this site; rather, it shows celebrities in bondage from scenes in mainstream movies and TV. The so-called movie section of this paysite actually tries to upsell you to pay-per-view movies.

I was curious about the celebrities in bondage, especially since it was mentioned on the tour, so I headed there. Unfortunately, the main page for that section is on a very "busy" background that makes it very hard to read any of the writing. I didn't even bother, because I didn't want a headache! Along the left side are celebrities listed alphabetically. Mostly they were B-rated actresses tied up, with duct tape or a gag in their mouths. Every now and then you'll see some nudity, but it's generally not in connection to BDSM. It's just there to show you that the site found a nudie picture of the celebrity in question. However, it's debatable if these are true nudes of the celebrities. Many of these nude pictures look like amateur photoshop jobs. At least the Courteney Cox photoshop botch job is worth a huge laugh at how badly done it is. I'm still cracking up at that image!

A lot of this site is devoted to teaching and dispersement of BDSM information. For instance, under Bondage Teaching, the Art of Restraining, there are informational articles - with pictures - on definitions, safety, knots, hog ties, German Hoist, Shibari, and more. There are also several photo galleries revolving around various rope bondage. There are about 70 articles under this category, as well as over 100 photo galleries. The pixel size of pictures vary widely; some of the sizes are: 409x600, 650x434, 480x355, and 600x800. Picture quality was decent to grainy - definitely nothing you're used to seeing in even the average quality porn site. On the plus side, I haven't seen most of these models which, if you're looking for new faces, you're sure to find a lot in here. The photo galleries also vary in how many pictures are in each set. I saw some that only had maybe around 10, while others had around 60 photos. In keeping with the category, the Bondage Teaching page has photo galleries that contained all sorts of bdsm: bondage; mouse traps attached to breasts; tit torture; hot wax all over tender parts; suspension bondage; hair bondage; all sorts of gags; blindfolds; and more.

If you want to watch any videos, you're referred to a well known movie streaming site where you have to purchase minutes to view or download the movies. So much for the over 60,000 movies inside the actual members' area; you have to pay for them elsewhere. Another thing that doesn't live up to the tour promise is the claim that each of the sections "usually is what many others call an entire site." I have to disagree. Other sites have a ton more archives than what is in one of these sections.

Conclusion

Powerotics is not your average paysite, thank goodness. To me, it's more of an educational and historical resource than a members' area that you join for visual content. I have no idea how often this site updates, since there are no dates noted on when new material has been uploaded. The stories section is apparently updated every week, according to the site. Again, I saw no dates noted, so I can't verify that.

In looking at it as a resource, then I would say this is an okay members' area. However, with some research on well established and BDSM resource sites, you can find as much information and more, for free! If you're looking for the usual visually titilating paysite, then move along; this site definitely isn't what you're looking for.
